When to shoot
Night session 04:00–05:00 in summer, 06:00–07:00 in other seasons — always before first light. Summer sunset (7pm) is a good alternative with warm light on the travertine, but the square is still busy.
The experience
Piazza Navona is huge: room for wide shots, architectural details, and portraits near Bernini's Fountain of the Four Rivers. In the hours before first light, with the fountains lit, the square has a warmth no other Rome location gives you. A natural stage for the flying dress.
